The National Science Foundation (NSF) Northeast Advanced Technological Education Center (NEATEC) was initially funded by the NSF Advanced Technological Education (ATE) program in September 2010 and centered at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY. The National Science Foundation renewed NEATEC’s funding in 2014. In August 2015, NEATEC was relocated to SUNY Polytechnic as the, “Home Institution”.
From its founding as a regional ATE Center, the vision of NEATEC has been to build a highly skilled technical workforce for the northeast US region and create a career pipeline that builds interest in the semiconductor and nanotechnology manufacturing fields from secondary school to community college to 4-year comprehensive colleges/universities.
NEATEC’s mission statement holds true to this founding vision:
Leverage the resources of academia, industry and government to anticipate and fulfill the needs of the Nanotechnology and Semiconductor manufacturing industry in New York State and Western New England through development, demonstration and utilization of new materials, curricula and delivery methods.
